It's hot here

I heard it snowed in utah this week. Before you complain try sleeping in an apartment thats 85 degrees at night (I come from a house that felt like the costco fridge room so it is quite the adjustment)😾😱

We taught a lesson on the porch of a house right on the river at the base of the huge mountain. The sun was setting and fireflies were everywhere. So dope.
Theres a bunch of scorpions in our apartment building. We havent seen any in our actual apartment though 🤞
There's also a lizard that we caught in the bathroom. He's mellow. His names Jordan. We kept him in a bottle for a little while but that's sad so now he just kinda free roams our appartment. He eats the spiders too. Pretty chill. He climbs walls so sometimes he's just chillin on the wall when we wake up.
There's a lady we're teaching that doesn't like coming to church anymore because she has to walk past the chinese peoples houses and she's scared of them because she thinks they eat people. Not really sure how to deal with this one lol...
I realized that you need to really think out how you shower here. You can't fully commit. This week I commited and lathered up my whole body then the water cut out for the night. I was tired so I basically just went to bed soapy lol. But hey this is the best my sheets have smelled in a month! (They hand wash them in the nasty canal thing (the same one that I saw a dead dog floating down))
One of the pieces of advice that my dad gave me before my mission is to be bold. I have come to realize how necesary this is. It can be hard. I don't speak the language, and am not a gospel pro. But, one of my goals this week was to talk to every single person I pass. Even if it was just a simple "buenas". I've realized that part of being a missionary is opening your mouth and letting the spirit fill it.
Love you all, go to lone star for me

The boys are filling fonts 🗣🌎

Shoutout Elder England (bowman) and Elder Peery (sammy bear) for entering the waters of baptism in Guatemala and Honduras this week. Good job👍

Also, shout out uce binnie on his call to New Zealand. Real feching uce.
Shoutout dallas cowboys, dez caught it. Its crazy how this years our year (Im pretty sure, I actually don't know how were looking but dez still caught it and I'm sure its our year)
Shoutout Utes. We own caleb williams
Most importantly, shout out PIMPMO (dibs dollar 2 jmat)
Alright now to the email sorry about that. Pretty average week.
I don't think people quite realize just how poverty stricken Perú is. Most when they think of Perú think of huge mountains, jungle, llamas, and the big skyscrapers of Lima. I thought of this as well. This stereotype does exist, and I have seen it, but it is an extremely small minortity. The majority of the country is brown dirt roads, dirt floors, tin roofs, and looks more like Iraq than machu pichu. 90 percent of the areas in my mission don't have a single tree or mountain. Parts of the mission have poverty comparable to the poverty you see on TV in Africa. I have seen a lot of the poverty already, and it is heartbreaking, but also extremely humbling. When I say Perú is no joke I mean it. Even Ecuador was infinately nicer.
Aparently the river that goes through motupe is the only river in Peru with the famed El Dorado (type of fish). This peaked my interest
We need some freaking weddings man... We have about 25 people that have said they want to be baptized at some point (some more than others). 10 of these are people that need to be married first. 12 of these are kids of those people. If you have a good way to get people to put the ring on it let me know

I don't rock with llamas

Man I miss fall weather, football, and hunting. But without a doubt there will be a day that I miss walking these dusty streets in 90 humid degrees fully devoted to the Lord and these wonderful people. God bless them. I love being a missionary.

I'm down my suit pants from running from a big dog yesterday after church. (gonna sew them up don't worry) I've gotten better at distinguishing between kickable, outrunnable, and if he comes at me I'm screwed dogs lol
A llama spit on me. Mean llama. Llamas aren't nice.
The elders courum were telling me about how next month the streets will flood because of El Niño and I'll be walking in mud and water up to my chest. By this logic they will be using snorkles I guess. Havent really figured this one out.
We installed a new electrical shower. Pretty smart thing to do I know. Well it worked and was lit for about 2 min until it blew the power out for 2 days (and shocked me really freaking bad) lol. Also, my new found mass hair loss issue has left our shower clogged and for all I know drain-o does not exist here so not really sure how to figure that one out. (If anyone knows why my hair is falling out in clumps or anything that can help let me know, it sucks very worried about it 🤣)
This week we devoted a whole day to walking on one road straight through the forest and knocking every door for 4 miles. We got 3 return apointments, saw some huge iguanas, and it was beautiful. It was the Perú that first came to mind when I opened my call. Pretty epic.
We got transfer news and I am staying in Motupe. I am extremely pumped about that. This is one of the hardest places in the mission work wise, I see no reason why that cant be changed though.
Have a great week guys, love you all! Shoot me an email Id love to hear about life. Hearing from you guys makes me so happy!

I miss Hansen, Sandy

Peru is wild. It's seriously so crazy.

I went and got my stomach checked this week. Everyone please do not take for granted your health care. The nearest doctor is 3 hours away. They said I am probably ight, but going back tomorrow to get checked again. I was skeptical from the moment I walked in and people were negociating costs for heart surgeries. Also the fact that the same guy that was examining peoples feet and ears then examined my stomach. You guys don't understand how good we have it.
We taught a lesson outside in the street this week and a goat came and liked my face while I was talking. Pretty Peru
There is a weirdly large Chinese population in Motupe. Extremely random. They speak very little spanish. I need mr clay and connor dawg oneal to help me.
Members dont want us walking through the mountains during the night because of "big cats". So they drive us now. I didn't ask questions. I have my dog zapper though. I figure that should work on a panther.

We met a cool new guy and taught him. There were about 15 guinea pigs running around the house. The next day there were no guinea pigs. Again, didn't ask questions.
Grand total for bananas eaten was well over 50 for the week.
I found purple sporade. This is a huge victory for the Ecy crew (shoutout roque and diego)
Shoutout Hansen, Sandy. I miss it
I kinda realized I am a little too happy go lucky in my emails... Im going to be more real from now on. It's not all sunsets and baptisms here. It's more dust, rejection, and weird body issues. We get rejected a lot. It's hot as fech. My hair is falling out. We walk all day. But I am happy. I was told my whole life that the mission is hard. This couldn't be more true. However I think when we use the word hard, we also need to include that the mission is also humbling, very fun, rewarding, an adventure every day, weird, hillarious, perspective changing, unique and incredible. I am convinced if we aren't having fun as missionaries we are doing something wrong. I have been here for a month, and the stories I have to tell my kids one day are already incredible. I love these people. They are so easy to love. A requirement for my wife is going to be come back here with me. Love you guys. Don't take for granted what you have.
P.S It's my moms birthday tomorrow. Everyone give her a hug for me. I am convinced she is the greatest women on earth. I am extremely imperfect, and still have a lot to learn, but I could not possibly put into words everything she has done to help me be the person I am. I love her so much.

The font was chilly and conference was stupendous 🤙🤙

Pretty fire week tbh. Conference was dope. It is just better as a missionary. Everything applies to missionary work somehow.

The boys are hyped about the Piura temple. About half of the branch works in Piura during the week, so they are pumped. Its about 3 hours from here, so its actually not really any further than the Chiclayo temple will be. In the past 1.5 years the people in Motupe have gone from having 0 temples within a 10 hour drive to 2 withing 3 hours. Pretty cool.
The baptism was hype. I wont lie I cried. I couldnt help think of my family and grandparents and how their example has spread to me and from me to people down here. The church really is one big tree. I have entered a lot of baptismal fonts around the world from my stake center to provo, to ecuador, but standing in one that you filled with buckets, with a person that you have taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ is something special. Those sisters will forever hold a special place in my heart. They are extremely faithfull, and I have no doubt they will be active members until the day they die.
We went up to the pueblos up further in the mountains this week and had to hitch hike back (picture coming)
I got attacked by 7 dogs, kicked one, fell in the weird 20 inch deep holes that plague the streets of south america, hurt my ankle, and spilled my beverage on me. I got a Coke to drown my sorrow though (shoutout Randy)
Conference was dope so I'm gonna drop some of my favorite qoutes to end 🤟🤟
"Grab a pic and a shovel. Help carry His love to His people, and some of it will splash on you."
"The only solution to the poverty of this world is the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
"Jesus is not a Sunday only topic."
"Don't come to Jesus Christ because you are perfect. Come to Him because you are flawed and can be perfected."
"Our covenants are not a transaction, they are a transformation."
"When we choose not to be humble, we end up being humiliated." (Skyline basketball 🤣🤣)
"Stay on your knees until a casual prayer turns mighty."
"We have neither Gods authority to judge nor his power to redeem, but we have his commision to love."
"When nothing is expected and everything is appreciated, the world becomes magic."
"Go forth with power to tell the world the Gospel is restored."
"It is not the course alone that saves us. It is our companion. The savior."
"Jesus Christ is the author of Eternal Salvation."
"All that is unfair about life can be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ."
"Earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal."
"Daily repentance is the pathway to purity. Purity is the pathway to power."
"The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the great equalizer."
"May we not let our fear mislead us. But open our hearts, minds and mouths, and minister as He did."
"Wheather we live in a home with a swimming pool, or a dirt floor, this church requires sacrifice." (I can say with assurity after living here for a couple weeks that the later requires more.)
"You need to feel the Lords love for the people you serve, and then for you, as you serve them."
"The time is coming that a knowledge of the Savior will be spread to every nation, kindred, tounge, and people."
Love you all, thanks for your examples
