We had transfers and I'm staying here with Elder Cutipa. I'm very much hyped about that. I've realized that any companion that doesn't drive you absolutely nuts is a great one. He is about as care free as they come. I wouldn't consider him the sharpest tool in the shed, but man I love this guy. He didn't realize that the sun and the moon were two different things, but he learned that this week 📈
I have been hooked lately on a fruit called chirimoya/guanábana. They are technically different fruits (I think) but are very similar. Let me tell ya, these things are are money. It's really really soft and I cut it in half and eat it with a spoon. It is like eating straight up ice cream. It is so dang good.
Chiclayo is kinda boring. I miss finding scorpions lizards and snakes in the apartment, seeing crazy animals and picking my breakfasts out of the trees. But here we are. I found a cool parallel to this in the BOM this week. In Helaman 7 Nephi talks about his struggles with missionary work. He says...
Verse 7-8: Oh, that I could have had my days (areas, years of service, mission asignment, etc.) in the days when my father Nephi first came out of the land of Jerusalem (in another area, another mission, another time period, etc) that I could have joyed with him in the promised land; then were his people easy to be entreated, firm to keep the commandments of God, and slow to be led to do iniquity; and they were quick to hearken unto the words of the Lord. Yea, if my days could have been in those days, then would my soul have had joy in the righteousness of my brethren.
I often find myself thinking like this. Oh if I could be in Motupe again with Elder Nichols baptizing people every week. Oh if I could be in Jaen again walking through the jungle to find new people. Oh if I could be serving in a place with AC and paved roads. Of if it wasn't so hot. Oh if I could be serving in Fiji like schwendy or Tahiti like randy or singapore like Mr. Clay or California like Connor dawg o'neal. Oh if this was the South America misionary promise land we always hear of from 30 years ago where it was all sunshine and rainbows and the first pair of clothes to wear out are your baptismal pants, etc, etc, etc.
And then he goes on to say in verse 9
"But behold, I am consigned that these are my days.."
Very interesting. I think the grass is always greener. The sun a little less hot. The roads a little less dusty. The food a little bit less ricey on the other side. I know that I am here in this time for a reason. This is the Lords work, not mine.
Have a great week

Oh also shoutout mpohl and talbot for winning the state championship in doubles tennis. BHS would've won 2022 basketball state championship too but Timmy G was sleepin on the boys (we proved him wrong in vegas though)
